PEACE
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:6-8
For years my “go to” song for a few minutes of much needed peace, was this song by Christopher Cross – Sailing.
I could step away from a trying situation and imagine myself on this sailboat without a care while listening to his voice.
Now, I still enjoy listening to the song, usually about three times over, but my true peace comes from a different source.
The only source that offers true peace and truth. Jesus Christ.
Do you know that peace?
We live in a world filled with chaos and turmoil. Daily we hear of the unthinkable unfolding around us faster than we can grasp what happened the day before.
How do we grab hold of the peace that Jesus offers and live in the midst of the chaos?
That peace, the peace that Jesus offers, is available to us all. But there is one condition.
What is that condition?
We must have an unwavering trust in God and His plan.
Yes, that’s it. Now, you might think – Oh that is just too easy, it can’t be that easy!
Well, it is. Your part in this is you must accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, knowing that He stands guard over your heart.
And again, YOU MUST TRUST HIM with your life.
It does not mean you will NOT experience the chaos and turmoil of the world, what it means is that when you do, and you will, experience the world, it is then you will an advocate, you will have someone who holds your hand, stands with you, walks with you, loves you unconditionally.
When the world finds you guilty of sin, Jesus has paid the price, He gave His life for you. As you discover who Jesus Christ is and ask Him into your heart, ask Him to forgive your sins, He is there. Always there.
John 16:33 says
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
As we walk with Christ through our trials, traumas, and triumphs we will be at peace because we He is guiding us.
Just how does that happen?
For me, this happens all during the day. I spend time with God in the morning. every morning.
I use my Prayer Pocket to guide me in prayer time.
It is there I not only talk to Him, but listen. I may be experiencing a trial of my own.
As I talk to him I may feel the urge to write down a passage of scripture, I may all of a sudden realize the trial I am facing does not lie with me taking control and figuring out what to do, but to let God open the doors. Pause, breath, pray.
These “things” I experienced were nudges from the Holy Spirit. You see, when you accept Jesus as your Lord over your life, He doesn’t just leave you hanging to figure out things for yourself. He leaves with you the Holy Spirit. The feeling, the emotions, the heart leading, the mind understanding, the passion fulfilled. All those and more wrapped up into one part of the trinity. There is God, there is Jesus and then with us now is the Holy Spirit. Alive in us when we accept Christ.
It is not a coincidence that I happened to think of the verse of Scripture that will give me understanding for the day, it is not coincidence that I realize what step I need to take in order to handle a delicate situation. It is not coincidence that I don’t feel that anger toward a person or situation that I have prayed for be relived of. NO, it has nothing to do with coincidence or me.
It is all God when I allow the Holy Spirit to work in me.
When we spend time, consistent, persistent, passionate time with God each day our communication and relationship with Him turns from being just a religion into an intimate relationship which then creates the most beautiful form of communication there is.
TRUST UNDERSTANDING FAITH HOPE
All in knowing that no matter what I go through, I can have PEACE, true peace if I allow the Holy Spirit to work in me how God planned.
We all make mistakes, we make choices that we have consequences for, but He waits, He loves us through them all and knows that when we see Him face to face, we will understand, until then we believe.
Thank You Lord for Your mercy and Your grace. Thank You for sending Your Son Jesus Christ who paid it all. Thank You for walking with me, for teaching me, for loving me. In Jesus name Amen
