ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD BREATHED

WELCOME TO MONDAY WITH A MISSION

May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make His face to shine on you and be gracious to you; and may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26

When we study God’s Word, we find over and over the direction of spending time with Him is how He guides us.

It is amazing how scripture becomes so personal when you use it in your prayer time.

Slowly read these two verses of scripture. As you read them, insert your name, the name of a loved one, or a situation into that scripture as you turn it into a prayer

Just as using the Numbers six verses in praying over someone it becomes very personal.

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.” Psalm 139: 23

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8

It can be a beautiful way to “stand in the gap” for someone as you use the words that God breathed for us to use.

There are many inspirational books, podcasts, Bible Studies, Devotionals etc. that are out there to help us with our prayer time, devotion time, Bible reading plans – but it can also overwhelm us.

Should I pray like this? At this time? When is the best time? How should I start?

God desires for us to spend time with Him. That is the bottom line. That is the answer to all questions. Spend time with Him because God’s Word is infallible.

2 Timothy 3:16 tells us – “All Scripture is God-breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

YES – ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD BREATHED!

When we have accepted Christ, the Holy Spirit resides in us. He is there to guide us in every aspect of our life, including our prayer life.

Just imagine though, the Holy Spirit being pushed down to allow us to selfishly try to do things on our own.

What about, during my prayer time when I am controlling the conversation. When I ask God to take the scales off someone’s eyes and fix their heart, because of what they are doing, but “forget” to ask Him to do the same to me.

I think “I” have it all together.

That’s what happens when we neglect our time with God in His Word – our prayer life suffers because we don’t allow the Holy Spirit to guide us. We “forget” WHO is truly in control.

Something to think about; when I am controlling my prayer time is it really prayer time or am I criticizing God by not putting myself aside?

What better way to “stand in the gap” for someone than to use Scripture. To use the Words that God breathed for us to use.

Martin Luther said in the 1500’s “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.

In other words, as we breath we should be praying. It should be that consistent, and that comfortable.

Thank You, Jesus for leaving us with the Holy Spirit who will guide us. Let us be vigilant in listening for Him and then be obedient. In Jesus name. Amen
