BEATITUDE # 7
Welcome to Mondays With a Mission
I am honored to have you here with me today.
If I could reach out and give you each a hug – I would.
You take time out of your day to listen to me and that is an honor.
I am humbled by it.
To talk about Jesus, to tell others how much He loves them is a command to each of us.
BE DISCIPLES TO ALL THE EARTH…
In Matthew 28 Jesus tells us in verses 18-20
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
It is also a passion for me – telling people about Jesus, who He is, how He loves us, the importance of having an intimate relationship with Him, and, how we must be obedient.
THE BEATITUDE FOR TODAY – Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.
What is a peacemaker? How does that coincide with telling people about Jesus, about being a disciple?
Well, who do you think of when I mention the name “peacemaker”?
I think of someone who –
doesn’t focus on the dirty past of someone,
or even their dirty clothes,
who loves others with compassion, no matter where they come from,
who feeds the hungry
and clothes those in need,
who tells people the truth, even though it may hurt,
who helps people, but also shows them how to help themselves.
And – someone who will stand boldly for Christ.
WHAT IS A PEACEMAKER?
Peacemaker – it is a word that demands action.
Sometimes a peacemaker must step into the thick of things, they must commit to searching for, finding, and speaking the truth.
RAISING CHILDREN = PEACEMAKER?
Could we consider that raising our children is like being a peacemaker?
I think it gives us great practice for how we should treat everyone.
Much like how Jesus treated all those he met. The children of the King!
We love our children unconditionally.
As we raise our children, we will at one time or another have to be a “peacemaker” – we must be kind but not give in to the tantrums.
We will have to stop conflict and probably step between fighting siblings.
We must teach our children the importance of admitting when they are wrong and then to repent is probably one of the most important parts of being a peacemaker, a follower of Christ who loves and guides others to seek know the truth.
Romans 12:18 – If possible, so far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
To be a peacemaker is not the same as a peacekeeper.
It requires action on our part that may not always be comfortable, but a journey which will be fulfilling as we carry out the order to be disciples to all.
Father, Thank You for teaching us to be peacemakers. Help us to be kind, but stand strong, to take action, to love and to always point to the truth! In Jesus name. Amen
