Christian under Construction
A Christian is someone who believes in Jesus Christ and follows his teachings.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 5:17-18
So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away—look, what is new has come! And all these things are from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
We have, as Christians, claimed victory over sin because of Jesus.
Do we still sin? YES
We are sinners, saved by grace. We are… “Under construction”
Grace Alone.
Faith Alone.
Grace alone means that God loves, forgives, and saves us not because of who we are or what we do, but because of the work of Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says –
For by grace, you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast.
Every day we face a battle – a battle of the world, of the flesh. We are tempted continuously.
So, as Christians, as we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, we have the tools to fight the battle. We know who wins the war over sin.
What does the title of this post mean?
CHRISTIAN UNDER CONSTRUCTION?
Think about a builder who is going to build your home.
He starts with a solid piece of ground and good foundation.
When the walls are put up, they must come with strong framing and consistent nails.
Then insulation, electrical, plumbing. All necessary things.
Then you get to pick out your flooring, wall color, counter tops.
WOW – now to move in and enjoy.
Come on family and friends!
NOW, look at the Christian Construction process.
Jesus – the most important solid ground and firm foundation
Prayer – the framing to build that strong relationship
Bible – necessary to live our lives – It is our blue print, our guide for living.
Devotions and study time – our choice to pick out what drives us to have a closer relationship.
We have read, prayed, studied, we can’t keep it all just inside us, we must work continuously to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
My personal desire is for someone to meet me for the first time and know I am a Christian, not by me telling them I am, but by the way “I am”.
Do I make mistakes? YES!
Do I have a Saviour who loves me? YES!
Under Construction is a way for me to know that Jesus is always working in me and through me to bring my relationship with Him to a more intimate one.
It is then I can continually grow, accept my failures with grace, be there to catch someone who needs that grace, just as I need to put another nail in the wall, a new shingle on the roof and a new coat of paint on the door.
Print this picture out as a reminder to always be learning, growing, and sharing.
Thank You, Jesus, for Your Word, for Your grace, for Your love. Let me show it to someone today and always. Help me to forgive not only others but myself so I can serve you. In Jesus name AMEN
