WHAT WILL YOU FILL YOUR PLATE WITH?
Welcome to Monday With a Mission
What will you be serving this Thanksgiving?
Besides the traditional meal that includes turkey, potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls, green beans, creamed corn, mac n cheese, whewww…. that doesn’t include all the desserts, I make a special cranberry salad that has been a staple for Thanksgiving since I was a little one.
What about you? Do you have a special dish that you serve? Maybe one that is requested each year, or a family tradition.
Gratitude – Thanksgiving – Forgiveness – Love – Family – Respect – Acknowledge
Today please read with me as I share how to serve all these words on our plate, a big plate, that can stay with us throughout the year in our hearts and minds through God’s Word.
1 Chronicles 16:34
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
Doesn’t this pumpkin roll look delicious? Our daughter makes one every year for us to enjoy.
Much like all the other goodies that we fill our plates with, it lasts a few hours then you find yourself thinking about the leftovers. Or of course, another piece of pumpkin roll.
But, this year, also saturate yourself with the words of gratitude.
Carry them with you throughout the year.
Feast on the leftovers.
Share the goodness.
When we serve gratitude – Feast on – Psalm 136:1
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his loyal love endures.”
When we serve Thanksgiving – Fill your soul with – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Always rejoice, constantly pray, in everything give thanks. For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
When we serve forgiveness – Devour – Matthew 6:14
“For if you forgive others their sins, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
When we serve love – Sip on – 1 Corinthians 13:4-6
“Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up. It is not rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful. It is not glad about injustice, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
When we serve family – Get a second helping of – Colossians 3:14
“And to all these virtues add love, which is the perfect bond.”
When we serve respect – Take one more bite of – 1 Peter 2:17
“Honor all people, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the king.”
When we serve acknowledgement – Cut another piece of – Hosea 6:3
“So let us search for him! Let us seek to know the Lord! He will come to our rescue as certainly as the appearance of the dawn, as certainly as the winter rain comes, as certainly as the spring rain that waters the land.”
May your Thanksgiving holiday be one filled with all the good food, precious family, and of course the abundance of blessings of our Lord and Savior!
