IS THERE A FORK IN YOUR ROAD?

Welcome to Monday’s with a Mission!

DID YOU ACCEPT LAST WEEKS MISSION CHALLENGE?

Last week we ended with a challenge for our “mission for the week”.

The challenge was – how has God’s love for us showed us and encouraged us to conquer unforgiveness, unhappiness, anger, frustration and even sadness in our daily lives?

ME? I BROKE DOWN A WALL

My mission for the week helped me break down a wall.

Through sadness I found that because of an ongoing challenging situation I could tell God exactly how I felt. I broke that wall down by spilling my every thought.

No need to release that conversation on anyone else, but I could release it to God. I needed to release it to God.

He already knew about it but needed to hear from me. So, through prayer, conversation and tears He gave me direction through the Holy Spirit.

My anxiety calmed; I knew the bumps along the way were for good. God would be glorified through this in some way, at some time.

DID YOU EXPERIENCE A TIME OF TRIAL THIS WEEK?

Unforgiveness, unhappiness, anger, frustration, sadness those are all hard life things.

Is it hard to let those things “slide off like Teflon”?

Yes, it is, but when you feel the peace that God gives you, you know, when you ask for the peace that only God can give. Then why, oh why,  do you want to pick up the anxiety, stress, anger or even fear again?

STEP OUT OF THE WAY AND ALLOW GOD TO WORK.

So, why don’t you pray as you wait, read God’s Word as you wait, and watch how situations change as you wait.

The situation you pray about may change because of how you react to what happens. If you get involved where you shouldn’t it could turn in the wrong direction.

We must act by standing boldly for what Christ would want you to say, or to do, or even not to say or do.

HOW DO YOU STEP OUT OF THE WAY AS YOU WAIT?

Recently I had a conversation with someone who asked, “how do you know when God is talking to you”?  I could only give him my experiences.

The one solid response I could give was the importance of knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, who Christ is. You must accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior; acknowledge you are a sinner and ask for forgiveness.

Through that acceptance God’s power will change you.

For example – You know when you feel that nudge, that feeling of I don’t need to say that, or I need to say that, as you are driving somewhere – should I stop here? Why?

GOD USES US TO ACCOMPLISH HIS DESIRES

Those deeds come in many forms. From saying something to a stranger, a smile given to a young child, buying someone’s meal, praying with a family member, delivering God’s Word to a neighbor.

I gave my friend the example that I shared last week about classified ads story, and also this one.

One day I was on my way to deliver some flyers about a prayer event that was happening at several churches in our area. I had in my mind exactly where I was going to stop. They were not individual homes, but businesses which had told me I could leave some flyers.

As I was pulling out of my driveway, I was given the “nudge” to stop at a home close to ours. Of course, my thoughts were, why should I stop there? I don’t need to stop there; I don’t know them.

THE NUDGE CONTINUED TO GET STRONGER

I drove about a mile and the nudge was stronger and stronger with each roll of the car wheels. I had to turn around. I truly had no choice.  I pulled into the driveway and went to the door. Explained why I was there and gave them a brochure. We chatted for a moment. He and his wife were planning on coming to the event but he thanked me for stopping.

So, what was the reason? I have no idea. But that doesn’t matter. Maybe God needed to know if I was listening? Was I paying attention to the Holy Spirit?

If you are doing God’s work. DO GOD’S WORK, no matter where it may take you.

DO NOT TAKE THE CONTROLS AWAY FROM GOD

You must allow God to control, do not try to take the controls.

When you have a question as to whether it is the Holy Spirit working, ask yourself this question.

Will what I am going to do glorify God?

When it is a big decision, you have time to pray and seek wisdom, when it is a quick decision, like stop here, you usually cannot shake the feeling of what God wants you to do.

THIS WEEK‘S CHALLENGE

How did the Holy Spirit nudge you this week?  If you are following Christ, He will use you, are you listening?

Leave me a comment about your mission for the week. I would love to hear from you.

Thank You Jesus for leaving the Holy spirit with us to guide us, and nudge us as we work to glorify You. In Jesus Name. Amen
