THE BATTLES GOD FIGHTS FOR US
Welcome to my Monday Mission
My mission is to, each Monday, share with you how Jesus works in my life and how I hope you can use some of my experiences and thoughts to bring you closer to Jesus.
For you to have freedom in Christ through your trials and triumphs.
The past six weeks I have written about the Armor of God.
There is such great guidance and encouragement from putting on that armor each day.
HOW DO YOU GET READY EACH DAY?
Just imagine standing in front of the mirror as you are getting ready for the day. You are dressed and ready. Well, almost, you say!
I need to put my armor on! I don’t want to venture into this battle without the protection that God gives us.
So – I’ll repeat it again. Say it with me this time!
ARMOR OF GOD
I put on the belt of truth – claiming who I am because God lives within me.
I shore up the breast plate of righteousness as I know I desire to be controlled by the Holy Spirit, not my own self.
I slip on the shoes of peace so that I can be an instrument of God’s peace.
Then I make sure I steady the shield of faith, because without faith if is impossible to please God.
As I buckle on the helmet of salvation, and now I know it must be tighter on some days, and as my granddaughter in kindergarten has told me, she puts it on a couple times during the day, I remember that God controls my mind, my thoughts, and my words. That the words I speak should always glorify God.
And then I’ll hide His Word in my heart, the Sword of the Spirit – so I can use it to witness for God as I go through the day and call out Scripture to defeat the enemy when needed.
Awesome! You will surely know it by heart now!
Now, I’m ready for the day – because I know I will face battles.
WHAT KIND OF BATTLES ARE YOU FACING?
Is it an external or internal battle?
Family, finances, job loss or job change?
Then there is the internal – sadness, grief, depression, anger.
Do you find yourself trying to fight the battles yourself?
Oh I can control this, you say, this is my battle to fight. You head into the battle without armor, without discernment, without asking God to help.
WHERE ARE YOU STANDING?
Are you standing in God’s way?
I know I have. I have probably at times put up a blockade.
I sometimes imagine, after I have tried to handle something on my own, that I hear my armor falling off.
There it goes clanking down the stairs.
I just stand there, shake my head, and go into prayer. Putting the armor back on. Starting all over.
Galatians 5:25 -“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
I have been redeemed by Christ and I have the Spirit in me.
So, I must adjust my pace. Stop, and allow the Spirit to work and then follow.
I must seek God to help me have complete trust in Him.
These times of uncertainty can shake us, but don’t let
persecution, depression, sadness, anger, or dissolution take away our trust.
Let us rest on God’s words of comfort knowing that He will fight our battles. It may not be the direction or plan we had, but as we go through the battle, when we are weak and overcome with fear or doubt, call on Him. Then, yes, then, listen. Rest in the fact that if we get out of the way he will fight those battles.
REMEMBER – PUT ON THAT ARMOR!
Thank You, God, for the Holy Spirit, for the battles You fight. Help us to get out of the way! In Jesus name Amen
Cameron McGill, pastor at the Lake Church in White Lake North Carolina said yesterday – https://www.lakechurchnc.com
“The roll of the third person of the Trinity (the Holy Spirit) is to convict me of the second person (Jesus) so I can have a relationship with the first person(God).”
