DECEPTION AND THE POWER IT HOLDS

Welcome to Monday With a Mission

Matthew 7:13-14

“Enter through the narrow gate because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it!”

Is deception keeping you from entering the gate?

The word gate in this verse brings us to accept a challenge.
The challenge is, do we follow Jesus or the world?
It may sound like a simple challenge to us, as a believer.

“Of course I want to follow Jesus.”
But…
Deception from the world around us comes in many forms.

In today’s world it is a common belief that you can get to heaven by being a “good person”.

Deception number one – just because others believe it doesn’t mean it’s right.

You have heard that before, probably from a parent during adolescent years, and as parents now, have said it. And, it is still true.

But think about how easy it is to fall into the trap of following the crowd.

Use the Bible as your accountability partner, not – the person trying to convince you of a falsehood. It they are not using the Bible to show you the way, then their way is headed down the wrong path through the gate to nowhere.

When we question the falsehood it is then we will most likely experience some type of persecution.

Rejection, retaliation, and resistance come along with us when we make our way through the narrow gate.

The knowledge of living in eternity with God comes from reading the Bible.

When we read, study, accept, and acknowledge who Jesus is we have come down the path to the gate.

Living for Christ is not an easy road, but it will always be the most glorious road.

Walking through the gate, making the decision to be a disciple of Christ, does not put a stop to the powers of deception.

Walking through the gate, making the decision to be a disciple of Christ, gives us the power to unveil the falsehoods, and give people hope.

Thank You, Jesus, for the wisdom, strength, discernment, and peace You give us as we face deception so we can push it out of the way and show others how they can know the truth. In Jesus name. Amen
